In the News: Josh Brolin Heads to Rehab

via wifflegif.com

Josh Brolin has reportedly checked into Rehab for a substance abuse problem. This actor, who is best known for his roles in Milk and Gangster Squad, has admitted himself into a Northern California treatment facility just weeks after allegedly getting into a drunken fistfight at a pub, reports US weekly.

The actor has apparently made headlines lately for his drunken behavior. TMZ put up a video of Josh Brolin in a sloppy fist fight just outside of a Santa Monica club, and just shortly after that video another one was put up where Josh Brolin beat up a cab driver after a small fender-bender. It was after these videos were posted that he told reporters he was completely done with alcohol. Besides the recent videos, Josh Brolin has been in trouble with the law several times over the years. He has been arrested for public intoxication, interfering with police and domestic battery.

Sounds like it’s about time to get some help, huh? Sources say that Josh Brolin has realized he has a problem and is committed to his sobriety. I personally couldn’t imagine having to deal with such a big life changing problem and decision in the spotlight of Hollywood. I think it’s an admirable quality in a big star when they decide to publicly admit they have a problem and are getting help. Josh Brolin was clearly in need of help and his life had definitely seemed to have become unmanageable. I think he should be proud of his decision to get help.

There are many stars now-a-days that are public about having issues with alcohol and drug dependency. In my opinion, it’s kind of their way of saying ‘we are human beings just like you!’ It especially takes a lot of courage to openly admit you need to go to a treatment facility for addiction issues. You are putting it out there and taking a risk on the world talking about you and judging you. That takes a seriously courageous person to do that!

Not only is Josh Brolin a famous actor, but he is the son of James Brolin and Barbara Streisand. So, I’m sure he is used to being in the spotlight for most of his life. He was married to Diane Lane and it was announced in February that they will be divorcing. I truly hope that Josh Brolin gets the help he deserves and doesn’t let the media and public affect his recovery process. It is so hard getting sober without having to deal with all that, and it seems like Josh Brolin has had a lot of incidents that prove to him that he might need to stay sober.

For me, it took a lot of intense and crazy situations for me to realize I might have a problem. I even called the cops on myself one night in an attempt to get the keys to my car, when I was completely wasted! I’m grateful to have been able to get the help I needed, and I’m sure Josh Brolin will look back on all of this and be grateful as well!
