What are the signs of emotional strength? When most of us think of the word “strength,” we think of power and force. Therefore, emotional strength might be perceived as being cold and detached from the harsh realities of life. However, this is far from an emotional strength. Emotional strength has more to do with being vulnerable than being aloof.
The foundations of emotional strength rely on the ability of someone to process emotions. How we ride the harsh waves of life measure our personal character.

Here are some proven methods to master your emotional resilience:

  1. JOURNAL

Expressing your emotions is the best way to cope with them. There is no better way to do this than through writing. Strong people practice journaling on a routine basis. Writing allows you to move on from the past and release it on paper to complete the healing process.

  1. MEDITATE

Many people say meditation is a life-changing tool for success. When we sit in silence, we participate in one of the most ancient healing processes out there. To put it simply, it works. The use of breath allows us to become present and release emotions. The chaos of life makes it necessary for us to calm down and regain control.

  1. SELF-CARE

It is so important to make yourself a priority. Whether it is exercise, makeup, or simple hygiene, self-care is the way we show compassion to ourselves. We should treat ourselves well so we can offer that care to others. Real strength is making you a priority.

  1. KNOW YOUR BOUNDARIES

Healthy people know their limitations. They know what they want out of life, therefore, they prevent the wrong people from coming in. They maintain their boundaries with poise and humility.

  1. FORGIVE

Forgiveness allows us to feel free, bright and vibrant. Forgiving others enable us to let go. By holding on the emotions, it holds us back from pursuing out dreams in life. Those with emotional strength forgive because they know it will make them a stronger person in the end.

Being emotional strong is not what most people believe it to be. Emotional strength comes from vulnerability. Often we have to look within ourselves and recognize what emotions are holding us back from reaching our full potential. If you feel you are cold and defensive, you probably are. Emotional coldness only masks pain. Emotional strength is about recognizing and learning from suffering.

Are you an emotionally strong person? If not, there are always ways to build yourself up as a person. Stop letting your past get in the way of your future. Take steps each day to become more emotionally fearless. Clinging on to our emotions makes us more susceptible to self-harm and addiction.
